Work Hours and Duties
Work Hours and Duties
Every family has unique care needs – as well as a particular schedule that works best for their family. One of the main benefits of Apex Professional Exchange’s professional care program is that care professionals can work a flexible schedule. This ensures that our host families get the care they need, when they need it.
Work Hours
Apex Professional Exchange’s care professionals can be scheduled to work up to 40 hours per week with flexible hours that accommodate a family’s specific needs. Host families are encouraged to discuss work hours and duties during the interview process. Apex Professional Exchange recommends that host families provide their care professional with a written weekly schedule so expectations are clear from the beginning. When preparing the weekly schedule, host families should keep the following in mind:
- Work hours may not exceed 10 hours per day or 40 hours per week
- Care professionals are entitled to 1.5 days off per week and one full weekend off per month (Friday evening to Monday morning)
- Care professionals are entitled to four weeks of paid leave during their 12 month engagement.
Care responsibilities vary from family to family and are influenced by the child’s age, abilities and specific needs. Regardless of age, care professionals responsibilities should focus on care and care-related tasks. In addition, a care professional should complement and not replace the services of other care or education providers such as local therapists or teachers.
