National Reconciliation Week 2020

2020 is a year like no other, most of us will attest do that. Did you know that it also marks 20 years since Reconciliation Australia set out to shape the country’s journey towards a more just, equitable and reconciled nation?

It’s also 20 years since thousands of people came together to walk over bridges and on roads across this huge land of ours to show support for a more reconciled Australia.

And the theme this year is: ‘In This Together’, which was already in motion before the events of recent months and weeks, calls for all Australians to play our part in collectively building relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures.

From Reconciliation Australia:

“Reconciliation is a journey for all Australians – as individuals, families, communities, organisations and importantly as a nation. At the heart of this journey are relationships between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.”
