Your New Role As An Apex Carer & Therapy Assistant

To strengthen our Apex Australia Family we need YOU as a unique, caring Therapy Assistant!

As a therapy assistant with Apex Professional Exchange, you receive a variety of opportunities to gain valuable experience and both professional and personal development opportunities.  With Apex, you will gain exposure and practical experience to a range of therapy and support disciplines, developing your skills while making a significant difference in the lives of the family you support.

You will be able to really get to know and understand the person you are supporting, building a strong relationship with them while actively working towards their developmental goals.

Your Responsibilities As A Carer & Therapy Assistant With Apex Include:

  • Working closely with the parents to plan activities and discuss the child’s behavior, development, and goals
  • Collaborate and work with an interdisciplinary team of therapists and professionals such as Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy and educators
  • Integrate therapy programs into the home and community setting
  • Be part of individualised curriculum development and execution
  • Assisting with homework
  • Creating resources that address child-specific developmental and learning needs
  • Stimulating and supporting learning processes e.g. educational games and activities
  • Writing daily summary reports
  • Designing experience-based activities
    Personal hygiene care
  • Organisation and coordination of everyday appointments
  • Supporting the child in their social environment
  • Tidying away after play and meal times
  • Keeping the child engaged, playing and having fun (yes, it’s a requirement!)

Your Benefits As A Therapy Assistant With Apex Australia:

    • Full time or part time placements available
    • Stable, ongoing work with a single family
    • Minimum 6 month contracts with options to extend
    • Learn and develop your skills as you collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
    • Attractive hourly rate
    • Live-in option with room and board included in a safe, friendly home
    • The support of a global team that cares about your development

To Qualify For This Position, You Will:

    • Be an Australian citizen, resident or visa holder with working rights
    • Currently completing or hold a therapy degree (occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy) or be a special needs educator or disability support worker with at least 1 year experience
    • Have at least 400 hours of experience working with children/people with special needs
    • Be honest, trustworthy, fun and patient
    • Hold a driver’s license
    • Current police background check
    • Current first aid training (or willing to obtain)
    • Hold a working with children check/vulnerable people card (or willing to obtain)
    • Be open to learning and new experiences

If you are motivated by making a significant difference in the lives of the people you support, we want to hear from you!
